JAMES WILLIAM WELCH
James William Welch went to be with his wife, Mary, in the morning hours of March 5th, 2010. With a strong will and heart, he was born on Lenard Mountain, south of Bixby on February 24th, 1927. An adventurous boy, he lied about his age to join the Navy before he turned 18. After that stint in the service, he came home to finish his schooling and graduated from Webster High School. He rejoined the Navy for the Korean War, working as a mechanic on aircraft carriers.
After coming home again, he settled in the Red Fork area and married Mary Bryson and started raising a family. He found employment with the Tulsa Fire Department and retired as Captain. Not one to sit still, he then went to work for the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, working many years before retiring from there. Even in his later years, he could still be caught hanging his own Christmas lights or cutting down his own trees. Active and jovial, he had many, many friends and family who are devastated by his loss, and will miss him dearly.
Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Welch, he is survived by his children of a yours, mine, & ours family; Ann Cowles, Jacque Bryson, Roni Seaman, Karen "Suzie" Hunt, and Phillip Stephen Welch; and sister, Virginia Lee Schoffler. He had numerous grandkids, great grandkids, adopted kids, and neighbor kids.
Paw Paw was loved by all. Mimi and Paw Paw, as it should be.
